“Girih” or “gireh” is a Persian word meaning knot. Dating back to the 2nd century, this kind of decoration was adopted from Syrian Roman knot-work. A common design feature in Islamic architecture; this kind of pattern can be seen in palaces, mosques and mausoleums alike.
Each of our rugs are 100% cotton, and handwoven on a loom. Artisans in Rajasthan work on one rug or dhurrie for 15-25 days from start to finish. Part of the proceeds from the sale of these rugs goes directly to our artisans.
